Eamonn Darcy
Eamonn finished 18th in the Order of Merit in 2008 with four top ten finishes, including a share of third place in the De Vere PGA Seniors Championship. He has finished runnerup seven times looking forward to his first victory.
He suffered heartache on the final day of the Sharp Italian Seniors Open two years in a row. Beaten in a play-off by Frenchman Gery Watine in 2005, this time he faded in regulation play and then finished runner up in 2006 after a closing 71.
Prior to turning 50, Eamonn won four European Tour titles. One highlight of his long career came in The 1987 Ryder Cup, when he holed a four foot downhill putt on the 18th green at Muirfield Village to defeat Ben Crenshaw in the singles and in the process helped Tony Jacklin's European side win the trophy for the first time on US soil. |
