Ireland Portmarnock Golf Course

As a leading Golf Course in Wicklow, Druids Glen is often referred to as "The Augusta of Europe". The flora and fauna of the Glen provide a colorful backdrop to a magnificent golf course. The forests and streams produce a haven for wildlife in what was once a home to the Druids.

Druids Glen was the Home of the Irish Open for 4 years from 1996 -'99. In 1996 & 1997, seven-time European No.1 Colin Montgomerie won the title. In 1998, he was denied a hat-trick of victories by David Carter in a dramatic playoff. In 1999 record Irish Open crowds witnessed teenager Sergio Garcia from Spain produce a final round 64 to capture his first professional victory.

Described as Nature's Gift to Golf, the championship Druids Heath course is maintained to Tour Standards and features rolling fairways, natural rock quarries, lakes, trees, streams, gorse, gently undulating greens, traditional pot-bunkers and a testing sea breeze. The unique location of the golf course in Wicklow provides breathtaking views of Mountains, Sea and Irish Countryside. The ultimate Irish Golfing Experience awaits the visitor to Druids Heath.

Founded in 1894, Portmarnock is consistently ranked among the top golf courses in the world. With a rich history closely aligned to the progression of golf in Ireland, Portmarnock has hosted many major professional and amateur events includingmultiple Irish Open Championships, the Walker Cup and the Irish Amateur Close Championship. "Portmarnock Golf Club was ranked as the best golf course in Ireland"

Golf Digest Magazine, 2009

There are approximately 160 true links courses in the world. Fifty-one (51) are in Ireland. Golf Magazine considers The European Club Irelands # 2!

Pat Ruddy designed and owns the European. He operates it with the help of his family. He is a golf-writer and golf course designer whose works include Ballyliffin (Glashedy), Rosapenna, Port Salon, St. Margaret's, Donegal (Murvagh) and Montreal Island Golf Club. (On this Occasion, you will experience another of his works at Druids Glen.)

As well, Golf Magazine has ranked this course their World Top 100 Golf Courses list in 2003, 2005 and 2007 and 2009. And in collaboration with ten other international golf magazines, nominated The 500 Greatest Golf Holes in the world and included three holes from the links of The European Club. While there, we will meet with Pat, if his schedule allows.

If ever a golf course reflected the personality of its architect, it is surely this Arnold Palmer designed championship golf course at The K Club Golf Resort in Ireland. It may seem odd to describe a golf course as charismatic and cavalier but from the instant you arrive at the first tee, you are enveloped by a unique atmosphere.

Ireland's first Ryder Cup Venue is no ordinary golf course, and it is widely acknowledged as the country's most challenging inland layout.

The Palmer Ryder Cup Course is, quite simply, one of Europe's most spectacular courses. It charms, it entices and invariably, brings out the very best in your game. It is unlikely that you will be asked to tackle the course from the championship tees, but this should in no way diminish the excitement of pitting your wits against Arnold Palmer, for, in a sense, this is precisely what you will do.
